Discovering the Crown Chakra
Chakra's are energy centers within the body. The Crown Chakra or Sahasrara Chakra is at the crown of the head, and is the major entry point for prana. It has been said this is our connection to the Divine and the chakra that energizes the other major chakras. Just as the Root Chakra reaches down into the earth, the Crown Chakra reaches upward into the spiritual world.
Sahasrara is a Sankrit term meaning "thousand" ~ the "lotus of the thousand petals". When an individual's energy reaches the Crown Chakra the illusion of the individual self is dissolved. The yogi reaches Samadhi - the pure bliss of total inactivity. At this time all feelings, emotions, and desires, all activities of the mind, are dissolved into their primary cause. The union is achieved.
The cooler, darker winter months are a great time of the year to slow down; to practice visualization and meditation; and to nourish ourselves spiritually. In this workshop we will create a mandala, practice a series of asanas activating each chakra and close with meditation. Come dressed for a yoga class!
Daniela Kulik, RYT 500, received her Sivananda yoga training certification in 1994 while living in Austria (near Vienna) where she has enjoyed teaching yoga to various levels of adults and children. Daniela's yoga journey eventually brought her to the Blue Moon Yoga studio where she completed her 500-hour Classical Yoga certification through the YogaLife Institute of NH in May 2010. Daniela is also a Reiki Master, a certified Montessori teacher, has worked with preschool and kindergarten children in Austria and the United States for over 20 years and currently enjoys teaching kindergarten and German at a Waldorf School.
This workshop is eligible for 2 Classical Yoga teacher training hours or CEU credits.
