 sun_salutationswith Carter Siegel, RYT

Sunday, March 11 from 1:00-3:00pm

Surya Namaskar..... a greeting of honor, a demonstration of respect to the divine presence in each of us, the birth of your practice. Did you know that sun salutations are the foundation of a classical yoga practice?

It is through this serpentine flow that we move into a deeper asana practice. Sun Salutations warm and awaken the body, soften the muscles, open the joints, and stimulate the neurological, circulatory, and subtle energetic pathways in the body. Through synchronization of movement and breath, the body, mind, and spirit can move towards presence of mind, awareness, and acceptance.

In this workshop we will explore three forms of sun salutes: classical Surya Namaskar, Surya Namaskara A, and Surya Namaskara B. We will not only experience the breath and how it is woven into movement to create a beautiful tapestry of stability and grace, but also how this combination of movements affects the body physically and energetically. Come join me for an afternoon of discovering what Patanjali's Sutras (ch.II v.46) describe as "Sthira Sukham Asanam" or the practice of self acceptance and empowerment.

carter_siegel_colorCarter Siegel, M.Ed., RYT, was certified to teach in 2005 through Yoga Alliance and is working toward a 500 hour teaching certificate in Classical Yoga from the YogaLife Institute. She has been teaching in private and group settings to all levels of ability. For Carter, yoga has become much more than a way to stay flexible, strong and centered; it has developed into an integral and influential part of every day life. While her yoga foundation is based in the physical and athletic style of Ashtanga, she makes it accessible to even the newest yogi through a careful and gentle approach to identifying the needs of her students. From the newest to the advanced practitioner, Carter teaches in a clear, logical and appropriate pace and level that supports the students abilities and limitations (if any).

This workshop is eligible for 2 Classical Yoga teacher training hours or CEU credits.
